Eurogamer.net is reporting an interview between Digital Foundry and Microsoft that took place at their Redmond facility. The long and the short of it is Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Scorpio specifications. The console is going to sport an eight core CPU running at 2.3GHz, 12 GB of GDDR5 ram, and a GPU with 40 compute units running at over 1100MHz. Compare that to the PS4 Pro’s CPU at 2.1GHz, 8 GB of ram, and 36 compute units running at 911MHz. According to Eurogamer, the console was seen in action running a Forza Motorsport demo at 60fps, possibly at native 4k (that part is a little ambiguous). The most reassuring part of the article is that existing Xbox One and backward compatible games can also be played on the Scorpio, upscaled to 4k and at faster frame rates. Exciting news that will surely mean more hype for E3 in June.
